This report provides essential information on the labor markets of the United States, Mexico and Canada in a comparative format presenting the common characteristics and key differences in the North American Labor Market.

It assembles and presents side by side a comprehensive set of labor market data covering the NAFTA countries. Information is presented in easy-to-use charts and graphs that have been prepared exclusively for this publication by the staff of the international Secretariat of the Commission for Labor Cooperation. The report attempts to present all currently available basic labor market information where reasonably comparable information exists.

The report spans an 11-year period from 1984-1995 and presents some of the important trends and themes that have emerged over that period in several key areas including: employment, working time and nonstandard work, unemployment, the knowledge-driven labor market, unionization, earnings, productivity, income distribution, and employment benefits.
