Maria Isabel Studer Noguez
Director of Research
Dr. Isabel Studer, a Mexican, became Director of Research in July of 2005. She holds a Ph.D. and a M.A. in International Relations from the Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of the Johns Hopkins University in Washington D.C. She received her B.A. in International Relations from El Colegio de México in Mexico City. She has been full-time professor at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas and the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México and has taught at a number of other Mexican and U.S. universities, including the Universidad Iberoamericana, the Universidad de las Américas and the Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. She was also a Director General for North America in the Mexican Ministry for the Environment and Natural Resources among other positions in prominent Mexican organizations. Dr. Studer has been a columnist for El Universal, one of the major newspapers in Mexico. She has received numerous scholarships, grants and other distinctions from prominent North American institutions such as Fulbright, the Inter-American Dialogue, the Canadian Embassy in Mexico and the National System of Researchers in Mexico. Dr. Studer has published widely on international political economy issues, with a special focus on North American integration and NAFTA. She also holds other honorary titles, such as Senior Fellow at the Center for North American Studies of American University (Washington D.C.) and affiliate professor at Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (Mexico City).
