M. Armand F. Pereira is Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Office for the United States and Representative to the Multilateral Institutions in Washington since May 2005. Former positions include: Director of the ILO Office for Brazil (1998-2005); Research Economist, ILO’s Employment and Development Department in Geneva, 1982-1992; Industry Specialist, ILO’s Sectoral Activities Department in Geneva (1993-1997); Associate Professor, Brazilian School of Public Administration and Research Fellow, Brazilian Economics Institute, both a part of Fundação Getúlio Vargas in Rio de Janeiro (1977-1982).
Areas of expertise: employment and labor dimensions of trade and globalization and related economic policies, policy integration, labor standards and related technical cooperation, CSR.
Publications: Authored and co-authored several books, technical reports, chapters in books, articles in journals, conference papers and interviews on a variety of employment and development economics and policy issues, and has appeared frequently in international conferences and media interviews.
Education: BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences (economics, political science), MPA in Public Affairs (unfinished PhD program in Economics) from University of Connecticut, United States, 1970-1977.
